Advancing the future of technology with safe and sustainable learning environments
Dr. David Carpenter talks about wireless radiation, the state of the science regarding its health impacts, and why we should be cautious about using wireless devices in schools.
Dr. Herbert talks about her research into the brain and how various environmental exposures, including wireless radiation from all sources, may impact its performance. More information below.
Frank Clegg, former President of Microsoft Canada and organizer of Canadians for Safe Technology, talks about the technical aspects of using wireless technology in educational settings.
Dr. Ronald Melnick, lead designer of the NTP study of cell phone radiation, discusses the design of the study and its conclusion: "We should no longer assume that any current or future wireless technology, including 5G, is safe without adequate testing."
In Massachusetts, the Leto Institute has collaborated with Smart Approaches to Marijuana (SAM) to highlight serious health risks, especially among young people. SAM is a prominent organization dedicated to educating the public and policymakers about the dangers associated with marijuana commercialization and its potent chemical component, THC.
The collaboration seeks to emphasize that today's high-potency THC products can lead to addiction and severe mental health issues and that the cannabis industry prioritizes "profit over people". The Industry makes money when teens and youth become addicted to their product so they seek to sell the highest percentage of THC possible to youth without sharing the greater risk of addiction which rises with THC potency .
The Leto Institute focuses on raising awareness about these dangers through educational initiatives and community outreach, aiming to counteract the normalization of marijuana use that can result from legalization. Both organizations advocate for science-based policies and robust prevention strategies, arguing that the current approach to marijuana legalization jeopardizes public health and safety.
SAM's approach includes a combination of research, prevention, and reform, targeting misinformation spread by the commercial marijuana industry. Their urgent message is clear: as marijuana becomes increasingly mainstream, the risks associated with high THC levels—such as accidental poisonings and a rise in mental health issues—compel a reevaluation of current policies. Through their combined efforts, the collaborative strives to educate the public and to protect vulnerable populations, especially youth, from the overstated benefits of marijuana.
